Disneynature Born In China is an magnificent documentary catching nature in all it’s glory, but make no mistake, the circle of life is front and center, it will tug at your heart strings, take tissue. Parents go in prepared, certain scenes will raise questions when watching an authentic documentary. You’ll see rare footage of the golden monkey running with the wrong “crowd” of monkeys after his family turned their back on him, a helicopter-loving mama panda bear that’s there to help her cub and simultaneous teach her independence, and a snow leopard fighting to feed her young in one of the harshest environments on earth.
Born In China is a family friendly movie that emphasis courage, strength, and importance of family, For the really younger kids it might be a little harsh, there are scenes of animals fighting for survival and death that could be scary for a very little or sensitive child. Bringing to light the intense reality of where these magnificent animals live, that no matter how cute, warm and fuzzy an animal looks, they could be pray. One scene includes a baby monkey being swept up by a hawk, animals viciously attacking each other and the death of an animal mother. Have the conversation with your little one to prepare them for what they will watch. Your older kids will be fascinated to see the remote part of the world with all its natural glory. Thank goodness that there are parts of the world that are untouched, raw and magnificent. If I were you, no matter what the age range of your kiddo, I’d download and print out the Educator's Guide and turn it into a fun teaching experience. The guide is meant for homeschooling parents but this is a great tool for the whole family to learn, I loved it! Make it exciting, the move is aesthetically and visually captivating. These beautiful creatures with their life story will win your heart.
